Engaging Programs for Early Childhood Growth and Development
At Cold Spring Harbor Nursery School, we offer a variety of programs designed to nurture and inspire children at every stage of their early education.
From our Toddler Program to our Nursery and Pre-K classes, each program is thoughtfully crafted to support children’s growth through hands-on learning, play, and creative exploration. Our dedicated educators ensure every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Toddler Program (Ages 2-3)
Our Toddler Program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 11:45 am for children who are two years old by December 1st. With two dedicated teachers in the classroom, we offer a warm and supportive first school experience.
Children ease into the year with a gradual transition schedule, helping them feel safe and confident in their new environment. We focus on developing early social skills, introducing classroom routines, and encouraging sharing and cooperation. Music is offered twice a week, and children enjoy dedicated time on our fully enclosed, state-of-the-art playground each day.
Nursery Program (Ages 3-4)
Our Nursery Program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 11:50 am and welcomes children who are at least 3 years old by December 1st. With small class sizes of up to 13 and a dedicated teacher and assistant in each room, we create a supportive space where children build confidence, friendships, and independence.
Children explore early academic concepts like letters, numbers, and shapes through hands-on activities, circle time, and creative projects that include fine motor and sensory activities. Weekly enrichment classes include Music, Yoga, and a Masters Art Class—encouraging movement, self-expression, and visual thinking. Our students also enjoy daily outdoor time on our fully enclosed, state-of-the-art playground.
Families may opt into our Busy Bees After School Program three days a week, and all students are invited to join our fun-filled 8-day Mini Camp after graduation.
Pre-K Program (Ages 4-5)
Our Pre-K Program is designed for curious, creative learners who are ready to grow and explore. Children attend Monday through Friday from 9:10 am to 12:00 pm in one of our two small classes, each led by experienced educators and aligned with New York State Pre-K Standards to prepare them for kindergarten.
Through a STEAM-based, play-driven curriculum, students build skills across all areas of development—social, emotional, cognitive, and physical. We will challenge your child individually, at their own level of development, insuring an opportunity for success. Children engage in hands-on projects, collaborate with peers, and learn through exploration, conversation, and movement. Daily outdoor play and weekly specials including Music, Yoga, and Art enhance their classroom learning.
Teachers meet with families twice a year to share each child’s progress and celebrate their growth as they prepare for the transition to kindergarten.
Busy Bees & Camp Programs (Ages 4-5)
Nursery and Pre-K students may participate in our Busy Bees After-School Program, held Tuesday through Thursday from 11:50 am to 1:35 pm, starting in mid-September. After the school year concludes, students are also invited to attend an 8-day Mini Camp, open to all, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
