A Loving Foundation for a Bright Future

Cold Spring Harbor Nursery School, a non-profit, cooperative nursery school, taught by teachers and run by a volunteer board of parents, has been a cornerstone of the community since 1938.

At the Heart of Our School

Our mission is to provide a warm, nurturing, and joyful learning environment that celebrates the education, growth, and uniqueness of each child.

The curriculum is designed around the belief that children are naturally curious about their environment, with play being an essential component.

Through play in an enriched setting, children learn about themselves, their surroundings, and their capabilities.

The staff is committed to offering a supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions, explore their curiosities, and develop their cognitive, social, and emotional potential.

Learning & Exploration

Cold Spring Harbor Nursery School offers four programs: a toddler class, a nursery school class, and two Pre-K classes.

Toddler Classes

Our warm and nurturing toddler program helps two-year-olds ease into the school experience with gentle transitions, guided play, and a consistent routine. With a focus on social skills, music, and outdoor play, each day is thoughtfully designed to support their growth and confidence.

Nursery Classes

Our Nursery Program welcomes children beginning at age 3. With a small class size and experienced educators, children engage in foundational learning—letters, numbers, shapes, colors—alongside circle time, fine motor activities, and sensory play. Weekly specials like Spanish, Yoga, Music, and Art enrichment support creativity, movement, and early language exposure.

Days include structured learning, outdoor play, and enriching weekly specials like Yoga, Art, and Music.
